  1. Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds Optimization Guide

    Hello fellow Battlegrounds lovers!

I put this optimization guide together over the weekend and I thought I would share some solutions with those who are struggling with low frame rate or frame rate drops. Unfortunately the game isn’t very well optimized on both the server and client side. So until the developers (Bluehole) address those issues, hopefully some of these fixes will increase frame rate for those affected.

    WINDOWS

    Power Settings

Navigate to Settings > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings

Select “High Performance” as your preferred power plan.

NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL (NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARDS ONLY)

    Launch the NVIDIA Control Panel

    Select Manage 3D Settings

    Go Under Program Settings

Find “TlsGame” on the drop down menu and click add, if not already present.

    Adjust the following settings:

    o Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames > 1
o Power Management Mode > Prefer Maximum Performance
    o Threaded Optimization > On
    o Vertical Sync > Off

    STEAM LAUNCH OPTIONS

Open Steam and Navigate to Library

Right Click on PlayerUnknown’s Battleground’s and Select “Properties

Under General, click on “Set Launch Options

Add the following line to the Launch Options, without the quotations.

    “-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system -sm4

Explanation of each of the added commands:
    • -USEALLAVAILABLECORES: Forces the game to utilize all available CPU cores.
    • -malloc=system: Forces Windows to allocate memory for the game.
    • - sm4: Uses Shader Model 4 instead of Shader Model 5

For those with less than 8GB of System RAM, it might be worthwhile to test the Launch Option

    -lowmemory

    IN GAME VIDEO SETTINGS

These are suggested video settings for Battlegrounds, they will vary between systems. Adjust them to your own liking, the ones below are a good starting point.

Change Anti-Aliasing to Very Low/Low. FXAA in this game is fairly resource intensive so reducing this setting as much as possible will allow for resource allocation elsewhere.

Change Shadow Quality to Very Low. If Blocky shadows are unbearable, start at Low.

Change Post Processing Quality to Very Low. This effectively reduces Bloom and Saturation.

Change Texture Quality to High. This is HIGHLY dependent on VRAM, so lower end Video Cards might need to set to Medium.

Change Effects Quality to Very Low.

Change Foliage to Very Low. This removes A LOT of Shrubs/Grass/Bushes.

    Disable Motion Blur.

Reduce Screen Scale below 100 as a last resort. This will distort your native resolution, so be aware.
